Runway To Hope's Family Assistance Program

PROVIDING SUPPORT TO PEDIATRIC CANCER FAMILIES IN CENTRAL FLORIDA

Runway to Hope provides direct assistance that is desperately needed by children and families affected by pediatric cancer. For these families, the promise of a future cure isn't enough. They need help today. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the entire family suffers. Often one parent has to quit work to care for the child, dramatically reducing the family's income. Medical expenses and other bills mount quickly; the stress can overwhelm parents and children alike.

Below are the guidelines for families who have been affected by pediatric cancer in Central Florida to apply for Runway to Hope's Family Assistance Program. Please see links for the application below. Please contact familyassistance@runwaytohope.org with any questions or concerns. You may also inquire with your social worker from the aforementioned hospitals. For Families who do not have a printer or would prefer a digital version of the application, please send an email inquiry to familyassistance@runwaytohope.org for a Docusign digital version to be sent to your email.

  • Runway to Hope serves children from birth to age 18. We have limited funding reserved for patients who were diagnosed with pediatric cancer prior to age 18, but are still being treated pediatric up to age 21.
  • Active treatment can look different to every child. Runway to Hope would like to offer the following guidelines for what we have determined to be the definition for “active treatment”: The child must be receiving treatment for a cancer in their body, meaning chemotherapy through a port, PICC line, IV or oral chemo medicine.
  • Financial assistance will be considered when a need is demonstrated for families up to six months after port removal.
  • Continuing treatments such as Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and other doctor visits that do not directly treat a cancer in their body, but are for the long-term effects of chemotherapy, does not qualify as active treatment, at this time.
  • The child that is diagnosed with cancer must be treated at one of the following hospitals: AdventHealth for Children, Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, Nemours Children’s Hospital.
  • Bills that are submitted for financial assistance must have a Central Florida service address. Families who may be from out of town, but receiving treatment in Central Florida are able to apply to receive assistance with expenses acquired here.
